“The SCWR was a life-changing experience I will never forget. The faculty was just superb across the board, especially the authors who were wise and gifted teachers. I appreciated how accessible, generous, and helpful everyone was. I was at a place in my writing career where I was ready for tools to take my work to the next level. I found this at the SCWR and so much more. Thank you all!” – 2013 Salt Cay Writers Retreat student

“The retreat was lots of fun and I had a great time. Everyone was lovely, which always makes it nice!” - Amy Einhorn, Publisher and Vice President, Amy Einhorn Books245

“This was such a beneficial program, in so many ways…The dolphin swim was amazing! I’m already planning for a return trip next year, and can’t stop telling people about how wonderful it was.” - 2013 Salt Cay Writers Retreat student“I truly had a wonderful time at the retreat. Those were such nice people, and the entire atmosphere invited friendship and sharing. Thank you for asking me, and congratulations to you and your team for putting it all together and for making it such a memorable experience.” - Chuck Adams, Executive Editor, Algonquin Books

jackie and robbie“I had a great time, the attendees were a pleasure, and the retreat was well run and of course the setting could not be beat.” - Steven Fisher, Vice President, Agency for the Performing Arts

“I took in so much inspiration and information that my head is spinning. The panels were sublime, featuring a heady mix of top notch literary agents, authors, and editors. I workshopped the opening chapters of my novel with Robert Goolrick, which was an unforgettable experience. He’s a brilliant, wise man who opened my eyes to so much in regards to my novel and my writing—I am beyond grateful.” - 2013 Salt Cay Writers Retreat student

252“The Salt Cay Writers Retreat was more beneficial and rewarding than I could have ever imagined. From the moment I arrived in the lobby of our hotel, I felt like I belonged. I felt at ease with the faculty members and will always cherish my one on one time with them.” - 2013 Salt Cay Writers Retreat student

“Through the workshop process, I found myself informed, inspired, and educated about so many aspects of the writing and editing process – so much so, a couple of epiphanies took place.  I took a partial manuscript and reworked it to turn it into a real story, with a beginning, a middle, and an end.  I feel like I’ve accomplished something that I could not have done without this retreat or the insights I gained at the workshop.  I feel honored to have been a part of the group and to work with the faculty onsite.  It truly was a life changing experience.” - 2013 Salt Cay Writers Retreat student

DSC01971“Extraordinary people in an extraordinary location – SCWR created such a warm, nurturing atmosphere, where it felt that people could learn and teach and laugh.  It’s a wonderful feeling to make real friends and also feel like I really contributed to helping the attendees grow as writers.  What a terrific week!” - Jeff Kleinman, Folio Literary Management

The setting was just beautiful; the attendees were talented and also gracious; I felt guilty telling folks at home that I’d been away for work, because this was so much fun.” - Erin Harris, Folio Literary Management

“The Salt Cay Writers Retreat was a fabulous success – even better than we hoped it would be (and we had VERY high expectations!). A huge thank you to our outstanding faculty members Jacquelyn Mitchard, Robert Goolrick, Amy Einhorn, Chuck Adams, Steve Fisher, Jeff Kleinman, Erin Harris, and Michelle Brower, and to our administrative assistants Sharlotte Giberson-Graham and Deanna Dionne. You were marvelous, and we couldn’t have done it without you! But most of all, our sincere thanks go out to the wonderful student body who made the first-ever Salt Cay Writers Retreat possible!” - SCWR admins Karen Dionne and Christopher Graham
